Philip Levens: He is an executive writer/producer who grew up in Lubbock, Texas, before moving to Los Angeles, and attended Texas University in Austin. He produced and was the showrunner for Universal and Lions gate, Executive Producing along with Jason Blum ("Paranormal Activity," "Insidious"), the limited series "Ascension." Ascension was a 2014 science fiction mystery television miniseries airing on CBC in Canada and Syfy in the United States. It consisted of six 43 minute episodes, divided into three chapters of two episodes each. Conversation points during this Q&A session include the career trajectory of Philip Levens, his experiences in writing and producing sci-fi and fantasy television, his thoughts on the exponential boom in the popularity of superhero and science fiction media, and his views on the changing television and media landscape.


He recently wrote a pilot for CBS, based on a well-known Texas solicitor. Philip has sold more than 20 pilots to TV networks—including "Red Queen" for ABC, "Finders/Keepers" for the USA, "Night-watch" for Fox—and adapted the graphic novel Rest for NBC.


Philip was also a writer/producer on CW's "Smallville," CBS' "Wolf Lake," Fox's "Night Dreams," and NBC's new "Knight Rider." He was an executive producer on Paramount's "South Shore," along with Jennifer Lopez.


For the film John Malkovich produced his adaptation of the book Found in the Road, by Patricia Highsmith. He also rewrote the Wachowski Brothers' script "Vertical Run" at Warners, and wrote a draft of the screenplay "Wonder Woman."
